Jerez was great

Nice trip to Sherry-land
p9007s
, Jun 2022
It takes about 1 hr 20 minutes to get to Jerez. Once we got there , we had a nice tour of Sherry making process and the facility itself.
The horse show was nice except that some of us were so relaxed from all the Sherry tasting that we dosed off. It’s wasn’t a bad I would say. The show was 1.5 hours long with a 10 minute break built in.
Cadiz was where we had lunch and it was a bit of a rush. We were given only 2 hours at Cadiz for lunch and sightseeing.
Rainy Day in Cadiz
Ann_H
, Mar 2022
Had trouble at the beginning connecting with the tour manager. Better instruction was needed. I thought the tour was well organized. Greatly enjoyed the riding demonstration and sherry tasting. We hit a rare cold and rainy day that put a damper on things. Tour manager did his best under difficult circumstances.

Tour misrepresented and not delivered
Caroline_P
, Mar 2022
Hugely disappointed. I booked a tour of the Sherry making place, ferry trip in Cadiz and a visit to the Analucian horses (the part i really wanted to see). Having completed the sherry making I was then told that the rest of the trip wasn't happening and was replaced by a walk around Cadiz. I had no desire to spend 4 hours in Cadiz and if they had had the courtesy to inform me before the tour started I would have cancelled the tour completely. I tried contacting Granavision, who had arranged the tour for Viator, but they ignored me until the tour had finished and then thought it acceptable that they offer me a refund of €15 to €20. when I said this was not acceptable they cut off contact! Appalling behaviour

Interesting itinerary but felt rushed all day
ChengYi_L
, Nov 2021
The itinerary of the trip was very interesting and covered all the key essentials but it felt super rushed, we had 1 hour and 10 mins in Cadiz which includes time for lunch (so essentially 30 mins left to explore Cadiz).
This was because our group was made up of groups from different tour agencies which told everyone different meeting times. We were told 8am and another group 9am. So we wasted time waiting and then we met with heavy morning traffic to Jerez because of this delay.
We spent almost 2.5 hours of the trip in traffic, also on the way to Cadiz.
The last part of the trip with the Ferry was not interesting, would have preferred to have the time to explore Cadiz instead.
Was a promising trip but felt let down in the end.

Good first half, but no ferry ride
Melissa_A
, Oct 2021
The sherry tasting and horse show were great. Our guide, Roman, was entertaining, gave us interesting anecdotes about Seville, olives, Spanish history in Spanish and English. However, they are trying to pack too much into this trip. We left at 8 am. The horse show finished at 2 pm and we arrived in Cadiz at 2:30 all starving. We were supposed to get on the ferry at 3:10 which was not enough time to eat. So the guide called and said we could take a later ferry. Then we were on our own. No directions or guide to the cathedral and tower mentioned in the tour description. We met up again at 4 for the ferry, and were told that the ferry part of the tour had been cancelled. This tour would be more manageable without the ferry trip. Leave the horse show at 2 pm, spend 2 hours in Cadiz with lunch and touring.

Almost a disaster
Sandra_W
, Jun 2021
After we were on our way to Cadiz on the van, we discovered that the tour guide/driver had no idea that we were supposed to go to the horse show and on the ferry ride. All of the tour participants were very upset. The only reason I even booked this tour was for the horse show which apparently only takes place on Thursdays (it was a Tuesday). After much stress and commotion (phone calls, texts and emails), they finally came up with a plan so that we could at least tour the Andulasian horse stable and do the ferry trip. What should have been a relaxed day was very stressful and rushed, but at least we were able do most of the things promised in the itinerary (but only because we happened to figured out early in the morning that there was a problem). Be very wary when considering this tour. P.S. Our tour guide/driver was awesome and very accommodating and the scheduling errors were not his fault in any way! He gets 5 stars for saving the day.
Response from Host , Jul 2021
Good morning, first of all we apologize to you for the inconvenience caused.
There was an unexpected problem with the operability. Therefore, we decided to change the plans to offer you a good experience even though there was no horse show.
We hope you at least enjoyed yourselves despite the changes. Again, we apologize to you. Best regards.
A pleasant and well organised day out

The small tour bus picked us up at Cano y Cueto car park in the centre and proceeded to Jerez where we were dropped off at the Tio Pepe bodegas. The one hour tour was very interesting and the local guide explained the production processes for the different varieties of sherry. It was fun to spot the names of famous visitors chalked on some of the old barrels. After the tour we sampled a couple of sherries and had a browse in the shop. Must admit it was better than I had anticipated. Returning to our bus we proceeded to the Royal Equestrian School to marvel at the dexterity of horses and skill of riders. I’m not an equine expert but my wife assured me that they were performing moves which are not easy for horses. After the show the bus continued to Cadiz with a couple of hours free to look around. We decided on a relaxed lunch near the fish market, a popular spot. The Boxing day weather was sunny and warm and following lunch we regrouped at the bus for a mini tour of Cadiz. Our day tour guide, Petra, was knowledgeable and humorous and made sure no one got lost. We were dropped off back in Seville around 6 pm.

Teriffic Trip!
Louise W
, Oct 2019
This whole trip was fantastic. I am not usually one for trips around wine areas but the Tio Pepe tour was quick and interesting with a sherry tasting at the end. The Andalusian horses were amazing (I do ride myself so have a particular interest in this). You must go to the warm up areas behind the main arena especially in the 10 minute break as they are warming up or training some of the horses - you can get really close. The horses and carriage also come by at this time so a further close up.
Also Cadiz great. You have a bout 2 hours there in which I wanted to see the city and not stop for lunch so get your walking shoes on to get a feel for Cadiz. It was a beautiful day and our tour leader, Petra was humorous and gave some vg information. Well worth the money all pick ups and timings vg.
Day Trip from Seville

We (3 of us) did this during our 3 days in Seville. I had to request the pick up location twice and finally got a description of where to go - map would have been really helpful. The van showed up pretty much as expected. However, we had to go pick up at another location because there was only 1 couple on the other tour. Bit of wasted time, but nothing terrible. That made a total of 6 on the tour. Guide's English was ok, not great. Not sure if he had done this tour before because he seemed to be asking the driver a lot of questions. First stop was at the sherry winery - ok, but not really that interesting. The guide was provided by the winery. Next stop was the horse show - our guide simply showed us where to go. The horses were quite amazing, but the show is really repetitive - could have cut it in half from 90 to 45 minutes. Seats and view were good. Final stop was ion old town Cadiz for about 90 minutes of free time. Quite honestly, all we did was get something to eat and headed back to the bus - really not much to see in that part of town. Heading out, driver drove around town and we saw a few sights. Other than providing some color commentary while driving, the guide didn't really guide anything. Overall not bad, but afterward we wished we had the day back to see more of Seville.
Great Day! Great Guide! Great Places!

This was an OK tour for us ... Probably should not have done it with 8 teenagers.
Liane_B
, Jul 2019
This was the least favorite thing we did on our trip and it was fairly expensive. The sherry tasting was mediocre but the tour of the facility was interesting. The horse show was long and very repetitive / boring. We left at intermission. It never got any better - it does not build to any kind of finale ... its the same thing done 30 times. Beautiful horses and great talent to get them to do what they do - but too much repetition. Show could be 30 minutes and you would be happy with it - not 1.5 hours.

The good, the bad, and the sad
Carol_M
, May 2019
I wanted to see the Andalusian horses, and talked my husband into this trip because it included a trip to a sherry tasting, as well as a visit to Cadiz. The horse show was very nice, about what I was expecting. The trip to Tio Pepe, the sherry maker, was a terrible disappointment. We visited several rooms filled with large barrels. We did not learn much about sherry grapes, or sherry making. We live in a wine region (New York Finger Lakes) and have done many wine tours and tasting. This was the worst by far. We were only given two sherries to taste, and they were simply described as "dry" or "sweet". It is cattle-car tourism - groups of about 25 people are shoved through, and of course the tour ends in the gift shop. Sadly, the ferry trip in Cadiz was cancelled due to high winds and waves - obviously no fault of the tour.
Poor value, parts of tour just mused off.

, Apr 2019
The trip does not collect from your hotel.
The initial part of the trip you ate dropped off at Too Pepe for sherry tour tasting, next you are dropped off at horse show ( guide incorrectly called Arabian horses).
Next you are taken to lunch stop again guide says will see you in 1 hour .
Pickup was 0800 at 1520 We start guided tour of Cadiz. We walk past cathedral, we then walk onto promenade, past very small Roman ruins area. We walk through Jewish quarter streets to main square. Guide is asked name of square she says it is called Spanish square. I find a board with correct info and show the lady who asked. She gets out her guide book and she reads us the information about the 26th century square.
Catherine the guide says now we go to port(30 min walk) we say what about Tavira tower we have paid for. She says we are not doing and walks off. We arrive at port and wait for 40 mins in cold waiting area. Guide sits and smoked by herself. We get on ferry again no sign of guide. On other side she says get on bus now.
On bus she says my boss days he could not buy tickets for tower today. No refund was given. I paid over £100. Sherry tour €15 Horse shoe €22 ferry trip€2,75 thus I paid well over £60 pounds for the coach transfer.
The guide was not very informative, and seemed disinterested. As myself and the other passengers said we will probably never visit Cadiz again so this can not be rectified.
I have been on many trips from America, to Africa to Asia and this was the worst .
No refund was given

Far and Away the Worst Viator Tour We...

, Sep 2018
Far and Away the Worst Viator Tour We Have Taken!
The sherry tasting event turned out to be an hour-plus long sales pitch. Little was learned about making sherry. The Viator tour of the Scottish distillery we took was excellent, by way of contrast. Most of the time was spent looking at various sherry casks which had been signed by various personalities. This was followed by a brief sherry tasting with little or no introduction, and then being led into the shop.
The Andalusian horse show easily was the high point of this tour. The horses are intelligent, agile, and quite talented. This part of the tour is worth seeing.
The Cádiz portion of the tour was non-existent. Although there is much to see in this old Spanish city, the tour consisted of seeing . . . . nothing! The guide started in front of the cathedral in Cádiz, then promptly led everyone away from the cathedral, down to the fish market, and then to a small restaurant behind the fish market. There we had lunch while the guide hobnobbed with the owners of the restaurant. After lunch we returned to the plaza in front of the cathedral. In the plaza, in white stones, was the obvious outline of an earlier building. Even this was not even mentioned as we walked to the ferry for a half-hour ride -- again with no explanation! -- from Cádiz to Santa Maria by ferry. In Santa Maria the bus picked everyone up for the ride back to Sevilla.
The guide, Petra Meier, never tried to establish any sort of rapport with the customers, and explanations were largely absent throughout the tour.
Avoid taking this tour!

Good tour, well organized with Petra. The day went by very fast - good horse show, winery visit at Jerez. Cadiz felt a little rushed. I wasn't crazy about the ferry ride in the end. It's a good idea only if the weather is sunny. If it's raining isn't fun - think of doing a walking tour of the city or a cathedral tour instead.
