Pompeii is fascinating; the guide was knowledgeable and made the tour fun and interesting. Our trip tour guide, Andrea, did an amazing job of pointing out the sites and their history during the trip. He made sure that we knew our way back to the motorcoach in Positano without getting lost. There was a stop along the way to buy snacks and use the restroom. The driver was so competent in navigating the narrow winding road along the beautiful Amalfi Coast. This small group experience was a pleasant way to spend the day.

The trip is literally on the bus it's 1 hour in Pompeii in the hot but the tour guide was awesome. For positano, it was 2h which is really really not enough keep ur money do ur own trip it was not as expected .. it was 7 hours on the road and 2 hours in positano and 1 hour in pompei.. clearly not worth it, overall the guides were good and had a lot of knowledge

Great intro to the coast and Pompeii

Wonderful guides, very nice small tour bus, safe driver and lovely overall experience. One thing to keep in mind is that due to the distance, the “free time” in Positano is limited and this is a very long day. But the guide at Pompeii was so lovely and engaging with kids and despite the crazy heat, we had a wonderful experience.

The best part about our tour was our guide for the Pompeii ruins. Pau (i think that’s his name lol) was very informative, funny and engaging. The driver Paolo was very good and experienced especially on the roads to Positano beach.

A long but wonderful day! Highly recommend swimming in Positano!

Wow! What a day! We loved everything about this tour and only had one issue, and that was that we could not understand our tour guide whatsoever. She was incredible but her accent was so thick that we missed a lot of what she had to say. It’s a very long day, especially when it’s hot. We loved Pompeii and the tour guide that met us there was phenomenal. We were so thankful to have an air conditioned bus to get on to afterwards. When we got to Positano, we decided to spend the time swimming and it was incredible. We got about 2 hours and only wished we had a better idea of where we could change and use the restroom so we could’ve spent more time in the water. If anything, I would recommend getting familiar with Positano before going so you don’t get lost. Our bus had 2 seats on 1 side and 1 seat on the other and unfortunately we didn’t end up sitting by one another which, with little kids, wasn’t the most desirable outcome. The pit stops we made to use the bathrooms and get something to drink or snack on were great. We would certainly recommend this tour-its a great alternative to the hustle and bustle of Rome, and the Almafi coast is a must see!

Day trip with daughter

I think it depends on what you want out of the trip. The 2.5-3 hours of driving each way eats up much if the day. The two hour stop in Positano gets eaten up by time to walk where you’d like to visit and back. We chose to sit down restaurant for lunch so that ate up 45-1hr of our time. We originally thought we’d hit the beach while there but without knowing where to change, etc, and knowing we needed 15-20 minutes to walk back to meeting spot we chose to check out some shops on way back to meeting g spot etc. the Pompei stop was very nice and time allotted permitted for a nice tour-led by Serena-who was very informative and pleasant. Overall I felt more time in Positano would have been nice but we did get to visit 2 places without having to drive ourselves. The bus was full and the seats somewhat close together so be prepared for that esp if you’re tall-if so choose front row, back row or single side seat where there is additional room. Our bus guide-Mauro-was very nice and provided information when we inquired.

Positives: The locations we visited were beautiful and our guide in Pompeii was wonderful! Negatives: Our trip guide spoke poor English preventing us from understanding most of what she told us about. The air conditioning in our van was not working properly resulting in a miserable return trip to Rome. The 12 hour trip was in reality a 14 hour trip. A VERY long day.

Don't book with Walks - Italy, Spain & Greece!

Worst tour company we have experienced in decades of touring. Where to start... Viator advertising claims masks for safety. About half the tourists were wearing masks. I asked the guide about why they were allowed to go without masks when the website says they are required. She made an announcement that the masks are no longer required. Not true. The Italian government says masks are required on chartered coaches and buses through September, 2022. Next issue: the bus had NO AIR CONDITIONING on a 10 hour tour from Rome to Pompei, to Positano and back in 97° heat. It was a sweat box the whole day. With traffic & extra stops it was 14 hours of misery. The driver couldn't drive a stick shift. He kept killing the engine, tailgating trucks and cars alike, and nearly missed our Pompei exit. He crossed two lanes of traffic at the last second to make the exit. The speakers in the bus were awful so you couldn't hear/understand what the guide was saying. They stopped in both directions at an unplanned casino to route us through a shopping area. Doubtless they get a kickback from the casino. The list goes on but I think you get the point. Find a different tour company than Walks - Italy, Spain & Greece.

Worth the money!!!

We took this tour in June, 2022. This was a great tour! We rode on a nice bus that was air conditioned and very comfortable. The drive is very nice with changing scenery and a nice stop at a local store for sandwiches. The bus driver is amazing and talented - you'll see what we are talking about when you get to the Amalfi Coast! Pompeii is amazing. You will have an Archeologist as a Guide and she did a great job. Very knowledgeable. This site is remarkable. We learned so much and really enjoyed a peek into the ancient lifestyle and living accommodations. We then traveled to the Amalfi Coast, switched into a smaller bus and traveled a short distance to Siena. What a drive and what an amazing coastline. Just beautiful. We had time to explore Siena and enjoy a Gelato and do a little shopping. Our Guide was Federico. He was really good! He is a proud Roman and he's a talker with great knowledge and humor. He speaks good English and is a foodie. He told us a lot about Italian food and how to spot bad restaurants from good restaurants. He is high energy and fun! We really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend.

I didn’t like that we had so little time at Amalfi Coast! It was sad, spend most of the time at the bus… 😒 Disappointing! The only good thing was Matias the tour guide, he was very knowledgeable and give a lot of information!

Dear grisellemiranda7, Thank you for your review! For this tour, as we are coming from Rome, we do need to spend a bit of time on the bus to get to and from the Amalfi Coast. This is something we are taking into consideration to make this itinerary better. I'm so glad to hear your lovely review of Mattias. I agree, he's very informative and so fun to listen to! Thank you again for providing feedback. Without your feedback, we cannot improve our tours! Best, Amanda

This is our first time here. Pompeii was very impressive. It is larger than I thought. It is like being in a time capsule. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The amalfi coast was beautiful and the town of Positano was really great. I would have liked more time there, like maybe a week.

Cossimo (main guide), Francesca (Pompeii) and Roberto (driver) were all wonderful. Cossimo was a wealth of knowledge not only about Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and Positano but also about Rome and Italy, in general. Highly recommend!

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and organized. He made sure everyone is comfortable inside the van. Though our time on the stops to take pictures in scenic views were limited but overall it was a great experience. I would recommend this tour.

It’s a long day but well worth it. Bus was comfortable and we stopped once on the way down and once on the way back to stretch our legs. The tour guides were excellent and Pompei was interesting. Positano was beautiful. Some people swam but we had lunch and shopped.
