Not good for families with younger kids

This was not a family-friendly tour. The guide was knowledgeable but didn’t engage the kids with the information.

Rich historical tour

The guide gave a comprehensive tour explaining the colosseum and surrounding areas. It was a little tricky to find, but they were standing very near the metro stop under a tree. Lots of history to digest. So much to see!

Elisabeta was the best guide I’ve ever had. Brought the history of Rome to life as she took us through the sites. She was good about water breaks & finding shade to walk in when possible. I’d highly recommend this tour if you love history & want to know the stories behind everything you’re seeing (like how the colosseum got it’s name & where Raphael is buried) :)

Rome in one day!

Amazing! We saw a lot more than I thought. There is quite a bit of walking and this is a 3 hour tour (which it says on the site, but we had people in our group who were unaware). Our tour guide was amazing. Would recommend for someone trying to see Rome in a day!

The crowds in the...

The crowds in the Colosseum were just ridiculous. It really diminishes the experience. However, this was not the fault of our guide who did her best. The tour did go on longer that I thought it would so we were incredibly tired by the end and couldn't wait for it to be over. We were 5 minutes late to the meeting point but our guide was kind enough to wait for us.

Terrible

Our tour time and location were changed without giving us notice. Apparently I was sent a Whats App notice, but that’s not something I check regularly. We had planned the tour to coordinate with another outing that day, however with the changes we had to take a taxi to get to our next experience. Between the taxi to get to the tour, then another to get to the spot they moved the tour to and then a third taxi back to where we were originally suppose to end the Coliseum tour we ended up paying $60 additional in fares. Our guide spoke extremely broken English making it very difficult to understand what she was saying. The microphone she used had a lot of static which didn’t help either. I would say she seemed to know a lot of information but more as mere regurgitating the facts and not in an interactive manner. She never stopped to let the group ask questions or take pictures. The temperature was 101 F making the need to take a couple shade breaks necessary yet she never asked if everyone was okay. People were stoping to buy water and then having to catch up to the group. I noticed many people take their listening devices out and stop following along all together. It seemed as though our guide was perhaps new as she had trouble with entrance at all our stops. The Pantheon was closed for Mass on the day we went yet she didn’t know that would be the case. At the Coliseum we had to get in multiple different lines before entrance. It was very disappointing to spend nearly $400 for our families tour to have the experience we did.

Positives: the tour...

Positives: the tour started on time, the tour guide was nice and her English was decent but it was difficult to hear what she was saying due to the poor quality of the headset (which actually cut out when I entered the coliseum). Negatives: the tour guide did not stop for any breaks on the tour. It was 100 degrees today (6-26-22) and you are out in the sun waking non-stop through all the sites till you get to the coliseum. 2 people, including my 18 yr old daughter got sick from being in the sun (despite drinking 5 bottles of water and wearing sunscreen). We had to leave the tour because she was sick. Another lady on the tour also got sick. Unless you are 65 years or older, you cannot use the bathrooms inside of the coliseum and must leave the coliseum to use the bathroom (I was told this by a very unfriendly and rude employee at the coliseum. I told her my daughter was sick but she wouldn’t budge on the bathroom issue. If you are going to do this tour in the summer heat, you MUST allow breaks so people can stop, rest and drink some water. As it is I would never recommend this tour to anyone.

Not worth it

The tour guide came late for the tour and he was not looking out for the group. He was walking very fast and was not checking if everyone was following him. My wife got left behind for a minute and he entered the Roman Forum without checking if we were following him and we missed half the tour because of this. I called the tour company for help and they were not even willing to send me the tickets or help me enter the roman forum by myself.

Tour guide was amazing (sorry, I didn't catch his name). Very knowledgeable and funny too. Was extremely hot on the day, take a bottle of water. There are cold water taps to fill up on the way. Lots of walking too. Awesome experience!

Tour with Stefano for 1st or returning tourist
David_E
, Jun 2022
A must for all visiting Rome. David has been here about a dozen times but this was my first and we were both impressed by the amount of knowledge the guide conveyed. To start the trip we were late ( Uber kept canceling ). The operator was able to get in touch with the guide and lead us to him. Stefano (guide) was funny and always guided us to the shade to talk which was very important since it was 92 out.

The Colosseum was amazing! A very interesting tour - and really worth the time and money. In just 3,5 hours we covered Colosseum, Forum, Pantheon and Navona square. Perhaps to much is put into one tour, and it is not for small children or stollers.

Carolina was great with kids, even with such an information-heavy tour. Definitely recommend to someone who wants to experience the best of Ancient Rome in a single afternoon.

chaotic finding our guide. souvenir peddlers were very aggressive. guide was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information. it was one 90 degrees and quite uncomfortable, plus it was raining on and off. very steep stairs to climb and lots of uneven paths. The colosseum is very impressive and has so much history. Palatine Hill was very interesting. Our tour included a walk to the Pantheon which is amazing!!
