Good value for money and well run tour

Good communication prior to the day to arrange a pick up location. The guide and bus driver were excellent, with the guide giving being very knowledgable of Pompei and the surrounding area. The tour around Pompei was about 2 hours, which was probably as much as was necessary, especially in the heat. The trip up Vesuvius was also memorable, with amazing views of the crater and the bay of Naples. My only criticism was that the restaurant we went to for lunch served us a pre-arranged menu for our group which didn’t have a very extensive selection. However it was very reasonable!

The whole day was too long with all the travel. From pick up to drop off made it a 10 hour day.

Our guide was exceptional and did a great job of bringing Pompeii and Vesuvius to life. Excellent! Although it was 100 degrees she did not miss a beat. Highly knowledgeable and I enjoyed learning and about life 2000 years ago.

Once in a lifetime experience

Oh wow what can I say. Pompeii and Vesuvius is a once in a lifetime experience. Our tour guide Alessandra was amazing and knowledgeable and took us on a fantastic tour of Pompeii. To walk the grounds was just incredible. Then you get to hike the volcano if you wish! It is a straight uphill hike for about 30 minutes. I would say you need a moderate fitness level but everyone is different. Bring plenty of water. I will say the restaurant at Pompeii we had lunch with was not very good but it is a tourist trap. Expect mediocre food. Other than that, the transportation, tour itself, and hospitality of our guide and drivers were amazing. Book this tour!

Guide was knowledgeable about Pompeii. Convenient pickup. I would have liked to learn more about Vesuvius.

Great trip but earpieces in Pompeii are woeful

Our guide throughout the day (Mama Lucia) was wonderful and knowledgeable but the technology used at Pompeii was inadequate. If we were more than 3metres away from her (even in direct line of sight) the audio would crackle and then fail. And with a large group (by itself no problem) its not possible to always be within 3m. The rest of the day was wonderful, driver was great and it all went as expected.

Well worth see if you are into historic sights.

Pompeii is a larger place then I thought. You need a tour guide to learn all about the city and the places inside of it. A lot of it is destroyed, but you still get to see how the people lived. It was hot when we were there in September, so bring water with you.

Be prepared for no shade and heat ! The tour guide was amazing she provided a lot of knowledge and history. However it is ridiculous to be charged shuttle service to pick us up and have to pay 3rd party drivers to take us to the meeting point of the shuttle service .

Shame about the tour guide
Susan B
, Jun 2019
The tour guide seemed to think it was acceptable to spend most of the tour talking about brothels, prostitutes and penises. The rest of his commentary was boring. He was far too slow in guiding the tour around Pompeii, managed to take us to areas that were already crammed with tourists and gave us a very short time at the end to walk around the main plaza. Considering there were 2 female children of 8 or 9 years of age, I was shocked that he did not adapt his highly chauvinistic and inappropriate language.

The biggest shame about this tour is the large group size. About half way through the day I got tired of being herded around like a sheep. Other than this, the pick up from Positano was on time, Allessandraa commentary was informative on the long drive to Pompeii, and she was appropriately apologetic that the Vesuvius walk was closed due to bad weather. I would honestly recommend a smaller group tour if you have the option.

Great tour! Our guide, Alessandra, was very knowledgeable and engaging. It took about 2hrs to get from Amalfi to Pompeii, and she shared lots of great history about the city and Mt Vesuvius on the ride there. The coastline on the drive to Pompeii was also breathtaking! The tour was done very efficiently. We got to see a lot in the time we had. The hike up Mt Vesuvius was definitely challenging but totally worth it! Definitely bring some water! It's a lot cooler at that elevation, but you'll still sweat a ton! Definitely recommend this tour!

We loved our tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius. Our guide was great and very informative and helpful. This is a great day trip. A lot of walking and even the Mt. Vesuvius hike isn't too much! I have some limitations and was worried about my knees but was able to make it and had just enough time. Great experience!!

Pompeii was hot! Vesuvius was steep!

We are in Italy for my 50th birthday and decided we must see Pompeii and Vesuvius. Seeing these places are a must on your trip. Pick up was a block from our B&B and exactly on time. The group was a large one but while in Pompeii, we all had an ear piece so that we didn’t have to be right on top of our tour guide to hear the information he was sharing. My husband and I learned a lot about the history. Climbing Vesuvius was great but it was described as relatively easy by our guide and I wouldn’t have called it that. We are from NYC and used to walking but this was steeper than we anticipated. It’s worth it but tourists should be aware. The views are gorgeous. It’s a long day (bus pick up was at 7:10am and we didn’t get back until close to 6. Bring LOTS of water!

The drive along the coat was breath taking. Regrettably, we were unable to hike up to the top of Vesuvuis volcano due to bad weather. The refund for the cancelled part of the trip was easy and prompt. The tour of the ruins of Pompeii were amazing and we were very lucky that it was a quiet day so not many lines and we were able to see evening without lineups which was great. The tour guide was good and knowledgeable but seemed bothered and irritated when anyone from the group tried to ask questions. He seemed somewhat belittling towards those guests. That would have been my only complaint.

The guide was abrupt and appeared to be frustated that the site was so busy and therefore had to queue. The groups were too large which then meant you could not stop and take in the site, but rather shuffle through with time for a quick photo here and there but not actually enjoy what you were looking at. The outline on the website did not fully explain what the tour entailed and more description should have been provided around the Vesuvius portion of the tour. I would not recommend this tour to people.

Great trip! Learned a lot in pompeii with our guide. She explained about all the little villages we drove through. The view from Mt Vesuvius was spectacular.
