The driver and guide were professional, the bus was comfortable and roomy, not oversold and crowded. Lots of history given by the guide, lots of stops to see related items, not long enough at the American Cemetery, wish there was more time there. lovely lunch stop on the coast.

Great American History in France

Our group of four had a great time on our trip to Normandy. I will say the bus ride is long, but the coach was pretty comfortable. Our tour guide, Amelie, was so knowlegable and spoke to the region itself and the events that took place in depth during our bus ride (she literally was able to speak about this for the trip there and back - about 6 hours - which was very impressive to us!). Normandy itself is just an incredible experience. We started the day with a stop at Omaha beach. Be prepared, you don't get too much time here, just to take a few photos and maybe walk to the shoreline and back. After this, we went to the cemetery. This was one of the most impactful experiences of the trip. We were able to walk the grounds, seeings the headstones of the men and women (there are three buried there) who gave their lives. It was beautiful to see how they honored each soldier with an appropriate headstone whether Christian or Jewish. There was also a small museum to see at the cemetery. We then traveled to a small town for lunch and had about an hour before we were back on the bus. We went to a restaurant called Beach and it was delicious - highly recommend. There are a few souvenir shops to buy from here. Following lunch, we went to a 360 museum to watch a short film on the events surrounding the war and D day. The trip finished at Juno beach - where the Canadians landed. As an American, it was cool to see this. This was the end of the trip, and we went back to Paris after. Pick up and drop off was at the Pullman Hotel - get there early because they start on time! It was a long day, but well worth it.

visiting the beaches was the highlight. knowledgeable guide, well-organized tour. perhaps a little less time in the town where we stopped for lunch and more time at the Canadia cemetery (guide kindly stopped and let us visit the Canadian cemetery but it was a quick visit).

We were pleasantly surprised by this trip. I wasn’t sure of how much we would be able to accomplish during the time there, but the tour was extensive. They gave us ample time at each stop. Seeing the American cemetery was an amazing experience. And getting to have some time at the city center in Normandy, was beautiful. Our tour guide was very impressive, and she pointed out things constantly on the tour.

Not worth the money

This trip had been on my bucket list for so long but in the end was very disappointing. First of all, you are asked to arrive 30 minutes before tour start but the guide only shows up ten minutes before. The bus ride is very long and for the first 90 minutes, the guide never stopped talking. Her strong French accent together with lots of interfering noises from the microphone made it very difficult to understand what was said. The guide was knowledgeable but because she talked so much her stories were confusing. The stops were very rushed. 15 minutes at the National Guard Monument Memorial near Omaha Beach but no stop at all at Les Braves Omaha Beach memorial was very disappointing. At least we got an hour to walk around at the American Military Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer which was very impressive. Lunch on our own in Arromanches was fine and so was the 360 degree movie experience there. The Juno beach stop with Juno Beach Center was again too short. The bus ride with approx. 7,5 hours return is very long. Too bad not even a bottle of water was included in the tour price. On the plus side I would like to mention the skills our busdriver Jack showed on the narrow roads of the beautiful villages. Very impressive!

A Wonderful Experience

The trip was so organized from the start to the end. We left on time at the central pickup and at each stop throughout the day. Our tour guide, Elena, did a fabulous job providing the history of Normandy as well pointing out important icons of significance along the way. Her voice was full of passion and sincerity. We have been thinking about a Normandy trip for a while, and this trip did not disappoint. It’s hard to pinpoint what we loved the most, but have to vote for going to the Omaha and to the Utah beaches, and to the American Cemetery. Overall, this trip was worth the price. The scenery was breathtaking. I’m glad we decided to book with Viator.

1 day to visit Normandy
Jennie_R
, Jul 2022
We really enjoyed the tour to Normandy including the stop at 3 D-Day Beaches, the American Cemetery and a short film about WWII. The tour guide was very informative and provided a lot of information and then allowed time to tour the sites independently. It was a long day (as advertised) but well worth it if you only have one day to visit the area.

Was a very long day with the long drive from Paris to Normandy but well worth it. Very moving experience and would not have missed it for the world. Every American who travels anywhere near this site has to go and understand what was sacrificed for us and our freedom as well as Europe’s freedom. Great guide great driver and very enjoyable trip.

It was a great trip, which was very well organized and most importantly, on time. The guide was amazing and had so much information. We could all hear her very very clearly. The bus driver was excellent and drove at a safe speed. We visited Omaha beach, the American Cemetery, stopped for lunch, watched a movie and then finally went to Juno. We had just about enough time at all stops and no one felt rushed.

Great trip. Good to see the sites. Our driver and guide helped out on an accident on the way, which put us behind schedule, but they kept us on track for the full tour. This trip is a long day, but worth it.

Clean bus with appropriate stops. The guide had a nice overview of the upcoming sites and pre and post status in WWII. Also made a good lunch recommendation. Additionally, the Juno beach site was great and I was not aware of all there was at that site.

Long day but a number of stops and history along the way make it a great adventure. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and brought perspective to the days leading up to and following D-Day. The beaches and American Cemetery were humbling. If you want to leave the driving to others and have limited time in France, this is a great option. Special thanks to our driver Armando who went above and beyond to help me find a lost article.
