After morning pickup from locations in central Naples, relax during the scenic drive to Pompeii. 

Begin with a walking tour of the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, stopping to see the thermal baths, racy paintings in the Lupanare, the Basilica, Macellum (market square), and the formerly opulent residence known as the House of Faun. Your guide shares informative commentary about life in old Pompeii and the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. 

After your time at the ruins, enjoy a delicious pizza lunch or wine tasting (option selected at checkout). Next up, rejoin your driver and travel up Mt. Vesuvius to 3,280 feet (1,000 meters). Disembark there and follow your guide up a winding path that leads to the top of the volcano (this is a moderately challenging walk). Peer into the volcano crater and learn about the geology of the volcano from a volcanologist guide.

Please note that the admission fees at both sites are at your own expense.

Your tour ends with return to your starting point in Naples in the late afternoon.

WOW! A great tour! A MUST DO!

Everything was fantastic! We had transportation that was close to our hotel which took us to the starting point of the tour. Very nice transportation, and a very manageable small group. The tour was broken down into 2 parts. Each part was well organized, meeting a guide at each location. We took the wine tasting luncheon (1 of the 2 choices) and highly recommended. It was very nice because the guides did a great job explaining everything and allowing time to explore on our own.

Pompeii has such amazing historic significance and it was bigger than what I had thought. The guide was great and funny. Mt. Vesuvius is huge and although the walk up was a bit steep for me And it took me 45 mins - it was worth it. The views from top are amazing. Overall an amazing experience.

Shuttle service, not tour

Sounds great on paper, but fell way short in execution. It was really just a shuttle bus to the 3 locations, little to no information was shared along the way. No clear guidance on timing, next steps, what to expect along the way. I am used to tours providing commentary and explains next steps along the way. Did not get to see the artifacts in Pompeii. Guide never took us to that area. When we realized the World Tour guide was taking us out, we asked. His sarcastic answer was that we could go to a hospital if we wanted to see dead bodies. Then he brushed us off saying he was not in charge of what we saw inside and our Pompeii guide was already gone. Received one bottle of warm water at 8 am. Lunch was about 2 pm after Pompeii and hiking Vesuvius. We ended up purchasing 6 bottles of cold water and several other drinks along the way to keep ourselves hydrated for all the hiking. Sites are worth seeing, Very expensive for the shuttle service provided.

Great day trip, well organised and paced. Gosy was a brilliant tour guide, expertly driven by Nando (the greatest driver in Naples). Got to Pompeii early (0930) to miss the heat and the crowds. Pompeii tour guide Anna was brilliant. Great lunch and limoncello tasting. Well worth the money. Just be prepared for the final walk up Vesuvius……but we’ll worth the effort.

Tour was great. BUT- on the way back, tour guide and bus driver decided not to drop us off at our hotel because “there was too much traffic” - so they dropped us off 2 miles from our hotel and were told to find our own way back 😨

Very knowledgeable guide and pick up from cruise port was easy, however timings were completely off. Cruise was to depart at 4.30 and the tour was meant to finish at 3. We didn't get back until 4.10 which made all the cruise passengers really anxious.

The most amazing day out. Pompeii was breathtaking and brought to life by our wonderful guide Antonio. The 30 minute hike from the bus up to the caldera at Vesuvius will be tough for some people but so worth it to peer inside a sleeping volcano and for the stunning views back over the bay of Naples. Thanks also to the lovely Nuncia, our tour bus guide and Gianni our driver. We had a small blip with our early morning pick up from the hotel but the company sorted it out eventually. This is the reason for only 4 stars but the trip itself is definitely 5 stars.

Don’t wish to see the human body statues

It was a very nice day. Our guide at Pompei was very interresting. Unfortunately, we did not see the famous statues of the humain bodies. We were told that they would be at the archeological museum of Napoli. When we went to the museum, they were not there either! It seems they are actualy under restoration at Pompei!! We enjoyed hicking the Vesuve but we would have liked having more time to do it to stay longer at the top.

The tour guide of Pompeii would not talk into the microphone. He kept cutting in snd out. He was asked but did not help. He was horrible in the fact we as a group heard nothing most of the time.

Fabulous trip with a super tour guide. Would definitely recommend a visit. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as the trek up Mount Vesuvius is quite steep.

Pompeii was superb. However, the general organisation of this tour was poor. I was contacted the night before I was due to go to say it was cancelled, due to low numbers. It was then postponed to the next day (with no compensation for the inconvenience caused). The next day, we went to Pompeii (great) but got up to Vesuvius to find it closed due to high winds. I understand weather is not within our control, but I think a well organised tour would have switched the itinerary to Vesuvius in the morning (when it was open) and Pompeii in the afternoon. Instead, we ended up wasting an afternoon mostly sat in traffic and were offered two photo stops instead- nowhere near a suitable replacement activity and a wasted afternoon. Only offered a small refund against all this disruption. Came to Italy to walk on Vesuvius and didn’t get the chance, thanks to this tour.
