Lovely Winery

Tour was wonderful, winery and tasting lovely - just not enough time to see property and operation due to short time in port - appreciated rhe driver's main concern to be back at port in time to board

Thanks for your positive review! We are sorry to know that you did not have enough time to see all, but sometimes we need to adapt the tour to the embarkation time. Thanks for visiting Uruguay.

Montevideo And wine

We found this tour excellent and very well organised. The guide was very good and informative all the way through. It also included the wine tasting that was quite a drive out of the city .. but was well worth it; good wine and food.

OK, but wine was better

The city tour was fine, but the wine tour part was much better, educational and the folks were well versed and kind. But I would allow a bit more wine to flow and maybe some more kinds of food then just empinenedas (sp), maybe some meat and cheese. City tour the guide needed a mic/speaker for outside tour part, we could not hear a word she said and missed out on that part of the tour.

Nothing

This was to be a English only but was not. Guide could barely speak English and had little knowledge of the city. A two star is being generous.

Hi, thanks for your review. Note that this tour is in English, Portuguese and Spanish. The languages that the guide will speak on the tour will depend on the passengers needs on a certain day. We will take into consideration your comment about the spoken English of the tour guide.

Dump the tour company

Rose the tour director wasted so much time and took us way out of our way to accommodate one person that was not on our tour. She left us with a driver that got lost and took over 50 minutes on what should have taken less than 30. As a result we got a rushed tour of the city, and were very late at the winery, having about an hour for the tour and tasting. The Pizzorno Winery adjusted and did an outstanding job even though rushed. I highly recommend a visit to this Winery, but not with this tour company. We were all worried about returning to the ship on time resulting in a very stressful and unpleasant experience. This is my first negative Viatour review.

I am really sorry to know that you did not like the tour, we appreciate your review to be able to evaluate what exactly happened and take the necessary actions. Anyway I would like to point out the following: - The route from the sign of Montevideo to Pizzorno winery takes around 45 minutes, you can check what I am saying on Google Maps (in order to do so, please search the route from Kibón to Bodega Pizzorno). Thanks again.

Montevideo City Tour and Winery Visit
Linda_W

Our city tour guide, Micaela, was very personable and knowledgeable. The city part of the tour was first with a group of ten. Each time we left the bus for photos or a short visit to a site Micaela would have to go looking for someone who wasn’t adhering to the time limit. Consequently, my friend and I were about 20-30 minutes late meeting out driver for the winery tour. Since we were on a cruise ship we had to cut short our visit to the winery to allow time to return to Montevideo. Our winery tour was very interesting with wonderful history, great wines and experienced guides. I thought six hours would have been plenty of time to do both, but it wasn’t. Instead of 10:30-4:30 I would have preferred 9:30-4:30.

Not enough time to do both
Patricia S
, Jan 2020
There's really not enough time to have a city tour & then go out to the winery - we ended up on a combined English / Spanish tour (was supposed to be English only), when the city tour ended they took everyone back to the Cruise dock, dropped them off then took us out to the winery. We ended up with only 45 minutes to tour a lovely winery & do the tasting, which was not nearly enough time. I would suggest just doing the wine tasting or the city tour (whichever is your preference) but not trying to do both.

Hi, we just want to point out that this tour can be in English, Portuguese and/or Spanish at the same time. It depends on our passengers needs on a certain date. The languages in which the tour is offered are mentioned in the description. Sometimes having or not enough time depends on the arrival and departure of the cruise ships, not all passengers have the same embarkation time. Best regards,

Fantastic!

Rosario and Mario were great. We had a fun complete and fast flavor of Uruguay. From city tour to a great wine and dine experience in the countryside. This is a must if you are traveling in Uruguay or as we did, a day trip in Buquebus from Buenos Aires. We will come back to Uruguay for sure.
