Lisbon: Authentic Fado Show, Dinner and Night Tour

Each of the 4 of us felt the driver should not attempt to be a “tour guide.” He was not the quality of guide we have always had from Viator. And it was not what we thought we had purchased with Viator. He shared to much personal info/pays rent to store his stuff doesn’t live there, lived in latvia with girl friend & she wanted to open restaurant in Lisbon failed after a year, during financial crises Etc. is that info appropriate? Disparaged incoming car driver said it was an _____”ethnicity of driver identified” as they don’t drive safely here. Took us to an overlook before dinner show to see the city view. The view was a nice pre dinner stop and quick hop out of van. But then he went on and on about the city. I couldn’t hear a word he was saying due to street musician blasting away right by us. My travel friends did hear some things he said. I asked him to step over away from the music so I could hear him better. After the show we wanted to go back to the hotel he asked to negotiate on this and then drove us on the Tram 28 street. why? It was midnight. I should have put my foot down. A drive past the lighted cathedral on the way home was a nice conclusion to our evening. We enjoyed the Fado dinner show, the food was good and the musicians were top notch!! The Small venue was very charming and intimate. The driver explained the protocols of the Fado show and so that we understood and we appreciated that info and the assurance he would be back to pick us up. He said he was getting some bad reviews about the late nature of the evening and the slow dinner service. We expected the dinner to be served in courses between music sets and that it was also a late evening. We wanted that type of dinner show experience. We gave him a 20e tip for driving us there and back, the view of the city quick stop before the show (not the lecture) and the drive by the lighted cathedral on the way back to Alfama where we were staying. Van was very nice and clean but smelled like a smoker. My recommendation to the chap who drove us, “stay in your lane” as driver, you are very good at it!! Tour guide, not your thing unless you have a foreign language speciality that other travelers might need.

Great tour leader, and very authentic fado experience. Our tour leader, Joao, made sure to give us a complete tour of the city’s best views. He was very informative and friendly. The tour and the dinner/fado show we’re at our pace and not rushed.

Excellent evening with a beautiful fado show and a great dinner. Our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable.

Since I have no experience with Fado and Portuguese folk dancing I can’t tell if the show was representative. It was entertaining enough though. The dinner was terrible the codfish was fairly small full of bones serve with cottage fries. Cabbage soup was OK wine was OK. Richard the tour guide was good and he’s the only reason I gave this three stars instead of one or two

Knowledgeable,profecional,comunicative,helpful. He was very caring and showed people's skills. I would recommend this company to anyone serious about taking tours in Lisbon.

Hmmmm. This was just okay. Our guide had trouble with is car and arrived to our hotel a little late. We toured Lisbon on the way to the fado show with him stopping at major tourist sites. Arrived at Fado show late as well and were put at a table in the back, literally 2 feet from the washroom door. The steady flow to the washroom was distractive one lady actually came in off street and went!, our chairs were rickety wooden ones unlike the plush high back chairs the other patrons sat in. I told the owner we had booked this 2 months prior and was disappointed in what we were given. She blamed it on the guide, having forgot to book until that evening. An hour later, she moved us to another table away from washroom and with an actual view of the fado singers. I wouldnt recommend this. Even if we had a normal table, food wasnt great, service was slow and fado singers only sang maybe three songs between breaks. I had been to see Fado on a previous trip so I knew it wasnt top notch. I would recommend checking out Cash de Fados.

Our guide was great took us to all the hidden areas of Lisbon. The performance was interesting, the guest were a bit loud and slightly obnoxious.

It was my luck to meet André. It was a wonderful trip to Porto. The best part of the trip was walking on the bridge. From there, I saw the beautiful view of the whole city and felt the real breeze of Porto. He even made a lunch reservation at Orangerie at the Yeatman. Food, wine, and the view there was great, too. He made me a perfect day at Porto. Thank you, André!
