8:00 AM
Begin the tour by getting picked up at your central Dubrovnik hotel and then head out of the city via comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. Enjoy the view of the Adriatic and the Dubrovnik Riviera and the rural Konavle region, as your guide drives the van and gives you background on the history of Montenegro, a diminutive and overlooked Balkan country.

After crossing the border, ride along the coast roads, which curve around bay after bay. Admire the beautiful Bay of Kotor, Europe’s southernmost fjord, and stop in the village of Risan for a photo opportunity and to stretch your legs.

Later, hop out of the van to explore Perast. Stroll the streets and learn about the devastating earthquake that rocked the village in the 1970s, destroying much of the medieval town. Take in some of the Gothic and baroque buildings and then get on a boat to cruise out to a tiny island to check out the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks (at own expense).

After a boat ride back, get back in the van and ride to Kotor. The walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fun stroll. Pop into the Cathedral of St. Tryphon and take some time to explore on your own.

Finally, head on to Budva, a walled city on the sea, sort of like a mini Dubrovnik. Drink in the views of the sea and take some time to relax on the beach or walk the narrow lanes inside the walls.

After some free time to explore, meet the guide at the prearranged time and start your journey back to Dubrovnik. Enjoy one last delight—a ferry crossing along the Bay of Kotor—and then finish your tour in the late afternoon back at your hotel.
Itinerary

Bay of Kotor
Cross the border to Montenegro and travel along the picture-perfect Montenegro coast, typified by sweeping blonde-sand beaches. Private tour of Montenegro

Myself and my partner booked this trip as we wanted to explore some of Montenegro during our stay in Dubrovnik. Our driver Iva was fantastic, arriving on time to meet us and giving us all the information we needed on the places we visited. The towns of Perast and Kotor are absolutely spectacular with views in every direction you look. We also enjoyed having a couple of hours in Budva old town having some lunch before heading home. If you are wanting a hassle free trip then look no further.

What a great trip we had with our driver Nino we went to the beautiful Perast, Kotor and Budva. Nino was a great guide who gave us lots of great information on all of the places along the way. We were contacted the night before suggesting we go a bit earlier to avoid the queue at border control which turned out to be a great idea. We were picked up on time right outside our hotel, the car was spotless and the air con inside was priceless as the temperature was in the 30’s - many thanks for this fabulous day

Our group of 8 totally enjoyed this daytrip. Dana, our tour guide was pleasant and very informative. She was also very flexible with regards to our agenda - we were traveling with 4 young children and preferred to spend more time in Budva and the nearby beaches. The recommended seaside restaurant in Budva was fantastic! We are so glad that we did this tour and got to learn about/experience this hidden gem on the Adriatic coast.

Our tour guide, Eva, was fantastic - knowledgeable and personable. It was definitely worth the money to have a private tour. Eva was a safe driver, showed as a great family restaurant in Budva where the fish platter for two was a memorable experience in itself. Highly recommend.

Amazing day trip with the best driver!

Our driver was amazing! She was very kind, gave us a lot of information and took us to some amazing places in Montenegro allowing us to have time to explore as a family! Crossing the border went very smooth as well which we had heard could be a hassel. We could not say anything negative about this day trip! We traveled as a family of 4 with 2 kids being 4 and 2 (they were able to provide carseats as well!)

Private Montenegro Day Trip

We loved Perast the best, so beautiful, doesn’t even seem real. Eva was wonderful, she was a great tour guide.. It’s worth it to do the private trip instead of a bus tour. It was easy to cross the boarders. The buses have to empty everyone out and check passports and could take hours. Worth the extra money for the private tour. We Could allocate our time how we wanted to. It was really hot the day we were there so we decided to leave an hour early which was perfect since we controlled the day! Eva was wonderful, request her as your guide!

Magical Montenegro

Montenegro is a hidden gem. With stunning hill dinged coastline, beautiful seaside towns and old citadels it is a beauty to behold. The trip was well organised and the tour guide exceptionally helpful and flexible. It would have been good to have had more information about the places shared but absolutely worth taking this trip - I can’t wait to return.

Must go to Montenegro if you have an extra day in Dubrovnik

Our guide, Ivan, was great. We learned a lot about the history and current relations among of the Balkan countries. Leading a private tour, Ivan adjusted our itinerary to accommodate what we wanted to do. The Bay of Kotor towns are jaw-droopingly gorgeous -- so worth seeing. We had coffee in Perast, hiked above the town of Kotor, and had lunch on the beach at a great restaurant Ivan recommended in Budvha. It was such a great alternative to another day fighting the tourist throngs in Dubrovnik. We recommend it highly! Thank you Ivan.

An Amazing Experience

My friend and I took the private tour to Montenegro with our guide Diana - she was so great! Our pickup was smooth and Diana was friendly, knowledgeable, and a great driver. She taught us a lot about Montenegro and the areas that we were visiting. I liked that with being a private tour, we did not feel rushed. Diana gave clear explanations of the towns and told us how long guests usually spent in each place - but let us decide how long we wanted to stay and what we wanted to do. The shuttle van was comfortable, clean, and nicely air-conditioned which was appreciated on a hot day in May. The Bay of Kotor was unreal. Just a beautiful sight to see. We stopped in Perast, Kotor, and Budva. Each town was beautiful and Diana’s suggestions for how long we might want to stay in each place were spot on. I especially enjoyed our visit to the islet off of Perast. I would highly recommend this tour to others!
