Beautiful Cathedral. Sun shining through stained glass windows, absolutely stunning. Very interesting guide at the Octagon Tower, clearly explained building of the tower.

Hi Chris Thank you for your review, we're sorry you were delayed in entering Ely Cathedral. The Cathedral is a working church, so sometimes you get to see services and ceremonies taking place. We do ask our visitors to check the changes to opening hours page on the website to see if any services are taking place that day. The majority of the year the Cathedral is open for guided tours and full access. We're very pleased that you did enjoy it once you got to experience the Cathedral. We hope to see you again soon.

Spectacular once you get your online ticket approved

Some challenges with this online ticket, due to the cathedral not recognising it and not having the facilities to scan it. Resulting in having to queue in the shop, which was getting overcrowded. Not ideal in the current climate. Have to say that I’d not realised that I wasn’t booking direct with the cathedral. Which made me wonder how much they actually get from the ticket sale. Given that it costs over £9,000 per day to keep the cathedral open. Once inside the architecture and history surrounding it is spectacular!

Thank you for your review, we're sorry the team on site didn't recognise your ticket. Sometimes staff change and the message doesn't get through. We'll make sure we speak to the team, so that this doesn't happen again. Thank you for visiting and for leaving this review, its very important to us.

A magnificent building. A reasonable admission price. A pity the staff were not a bit more welcoming...

A bit of a shambles inside really, there was also a wedding taking place which seemed to take precedence over everything. Not really worth £16. It’s a beautiful building from outside but save your money.
