Depart central Barcelona by air-conditioned coach and journey through Catalonia’s countryside to Girona, a lovely old walled city that straddles the Onyar River.

Along the way, hear how Girona reached its zenith in medieval days, and how its wealth was directed into the construction of many extravagant Romanesque and Gothic buildings.

After a scenic drive, arrive in the charming Old Town and set off to explore with your guide. Meander down cobbled streets and weave your way into the atmospheric Jewish Quarter. Take in the picturesque houses and squares, and learn how this quaint area was home to one Catalonia’s most prosperous Jewish enclaves during the Middle Ages.

Admire the Baroque façade of Girona Cathedral, and stop to take snaps of Girona’s best-known view — the panoramas over the colorfully-painted houses huddled along the Onyar.

After free time to have lunch (own expense) at any of Girona’s enticing restaurants, hop back inside your coach and travel on to Figueres, where the iconic Spanish surrealist, Salvador Dalí, was born in 1904.

Hear about Dalí's life from your guide, including how the daring artist turned the town’s then-ruined Municipal Theater into the Dalí Theatre-Museum. Opened in 1994, the museum houses the world’s single largest collection of his works, including paintings, sculptures and other curiosities.

Marvel at the fanciful exterior with its crowning glory of sculptured eggs, and then go inside to explore the collection. See highlights such as the three-dimensional room set that resembles Mae West’s face, and gain fascinating insight into Dali’s artistic journey as you roam the galleries and adjoining Dalí Jewels exhibition.

Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore Figueres town independently. Your tour then finishes back at the start point in Barcelona.

A wonderful day trip
bahar_a
, Jul 2022
We missed the bus by a few minutes but they allowed us to come back a different day which was very nice. In Girona we split into two groups based on language. Our English speaking guide was wonderful. Girona is absolutely STUNNING. You have to see it. We had lunch in Girona and got back in the bus to figueres. Dali museum is as incredible and weird as you imagine. It was tough in the museum because we had one guide who had to share the same information in two languages. She did a wonderful job. It must be very difficult. We got back to town around 7 pm.

A Perfect Tour

I was nervous about taking an 11-hour tour but it was absolutely perfect. The bus was cool and comfortable. We left promptly at 8:30, and tour guide Alex did a remarkable job of explaining everything in English and in Spanish. In Gerona we saw the Old Town and it was simply marvelous. We also saw two Game of Thrones filming locations which was awesome. After that we had some free time. Back on the bus, we drove another half hour or so to the Dalí museum. Alex took us through the first few rooms and gave us very detailed explanations and then once again we were able to explore as we wished. It was an exciting, informative, and well-paced day. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves antiquated buildings, surrealist art, and learning.

Wonderful experience. We visited the historic town center of Girona with a guide which was very interesting. Also, dont forget to try the local pastry which is called “Xucho”( chu-chu).Then we went to Figueres, the hometown of Salvador Dali and we visited the museum. It is only a day but it is really worth it if you want to visit something typical.Fantastic trip!

Girona and Figueres with Alex and Ana
nevatravel
, May 2022
The morning in Girona was a beautiful prelude to the story presented by Alex in the Dali museum. We were a bit worried at first about bilingual tour, but it was no issue at all. Alex gave sufficient information in both languages while getting to the places. In Girona we had a guided tour in English by Ana. We had plenty of free time to explore. The bus was comfortable. It was the best tour we had during our visit to Barcelona.

Great location experience

Both locations were incredible beautiful to see and experience. I did not give 5 stars because the transportation method was terribly uncomfortable! We had to sit on the back of the bus, the chairs were really hard and no possible to recline. They should not use those seats. The tourguide Alex was great!

Overall decent
ErikaB_G

Overall decent trip. Negatives: The time in Girona was a bit short, as there was much to see and do there. In hindsight I wish I had gone to Girona on my own via train and could have spent an entire day there. In Figures the Dali jewel museum is included, but the guide didn’t mention it. Might have allocated more time to it if I had known. Proper mask wearing could have been enforced better. Positive: The bus was on-time and the guide seemed pleasant and knowledgeable. The time allocated for the Dali museum was just right. Headsets worked well and (maybe just by chance) the bus wasn’t packed to the brim.

Cultural and informative tour

The trip was well organised and on time, with an interesting walking tour of Girona. We wished there was more time to explore Girona and Figueres, as too much time was spent at the Dali Museum tour. The Dali museum was spectacular.

Awesome trip!
Sheeri_C
, Feb 2020
It was very good! Had I known the local tours would have been an hour each, I would have skipped them to see more of the city and museum. To their credit they DID say we didn’t have to do the local tour, but I figured if it was 20 mins or so, I’d stick around. Otherwise, it was FANTASTIC. We did the Jewish museum in Girona (and I needed more time!) and lunch, and the Dali museum was great too.
