Founded in 1890 and covering more than 11 acres, the Zagreb Botanical Garden is home to more than 10,000 species of plants, including 1,800 exotic plants and many native to Croatia. Designed in an English landscape style, the Garden features rock gardens, ponds, symmetrical French-style flower beds and trees and shrubs from around the world. Though not open to the public, hothouses hold tropical and subtropical plants, while more temperate glasshouses are home to palm trees and cooler glasshouses house plants that are sensitive to frost. The original Art Nouveau gardener’s lodge still stands, as does an old exhibition pavilion dating to 1891. A public lavatory and a storeroom also date to the end of the 19th century. During summer months, the Garden hosts concerts on Thursdays at 5:30pm.

We research, design and develop unique travel programs. Our experience and knowledge, as well as our passion for our homeland, enriches travelers' experience in Croatia. We are travel specialists in custom-designed tours for small and large groups. Zagreb has culture, arts, music, architecture, gastronomy and all the other things that make a quality capital city – it's no surprise that the number of visitors has risen sharply in recent years. Croatia's coastal attractions aside, Zagreb has finally been discovered as a popular city-break destination in its own right. Zagreb is a mixture of straight-laced Austro-Hungarian architecture and rough-around-the-edges socialist structures, its character a sometimes uneasy combination of the two elements. This small metropolis is made for strolling the streets, drinking coffee in the permanently full cafes, popping into museums and galleries, and enjoying the theatres, concerts and cinema.

Zagreb's green downtown - Private walking tour

Zagreb's green downtown - Private walking tour

The development of the downtown Zagreb starts in the mid 19th century. This is exactly why this part of the town reminds us of Vienna, Budapest or Prague; the many parks, museums, squares and building with gorgeous ornaments as well as other cultural monuments are works of renowned architects, builders and urban planners of its age. This tour is great for anyone who likes exploring the flat part of the city, but still being in an older part full of history and galleries. Often, this is the central part of the town where cultural events, manifestations, markets, and music events are organized. It is also the bellowed part of the city where locals like to hang out, enjoy the green parks and pavilions in the shade.
